25 Random Things About Me

As you’ve probably seen on Facebook, the infamous “25 Things” chain-tag. My submission follows.

  1. As an infant, I went down a short flight of stairs in my walker.
  2. By the time I was seven years old, my family had already moved four times.
  3. I never truly appreciated avocado until I served a mission in Guatemala.
  4. I have (safely) driven a car at 200kph. Outside of the States, obviously.
  5. When this chain-note began, I wondered how many people were compromising their “Secret Questions” for their online banking accounts.
  6. I fractured my right foot running down a flight of stairs to see a co-worker’s new car.
  7. I have no qualms in admitting that I enjoyed Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
  8. For some unknown reason, I remember the most random minutiae about certain people.
  9. Although I no longer play with them, I don’t think it’s possible to outgrow LEGO bricks.
  10. I wrecked my bike last autumn when my rear wheel rim cracked as I was coming down the Provo Canyon Trail.
  11. I’ve wanted to own a BMW ever since seeing The Hire, eight short films starring Clive Owen.
  12. I would absolutely love to attend the Cannes Film Festival one day.
  13. In kindergarten, I rode the short bus home from school.
  14. I prefer a well-furnished kitchen over a well-equipped entertainment center.
  15. My musical preferences are so varied that even I don’t understand them. Pandora makes a concerted effort, but rarely succeeds.
  16. As much as I despise some aspects of my major, I still find things about it that I absolutely enjoy.
  17. I think snow is only pleasant from an aesthetic standpoint.
  18. As a child, I wanted to be able to fly like Superman and would attempt flight by jumping off of the fireplace.
  19. Nos. 1, 13, and 18 are in no way related. We lived in a small town in Illinois when I was in kindergarten and the bus route I lived on was so small they didn’t bother with a normal bus.
  20. There is a ton of French music I love even though I can’t understand a word of it. For example, the works of Charles Tenet, Gilbert Bécaud, Yves Montand, and, of course, Yelle.
  21. My hero is a KitchenAid stand mixer.
  22. In elementary school, one of my friends nicknamed me “Beanhead.” I called him “Footballhead” in return, but I’m pretty sure he got the better end of the deal.
  23. One of my favorite classes in college has been VASTU 104 – Intro to Sculpture.
  24. The first car I drove was a Subaru station wagon.
  25. I’ve been mugged at gunpoint at least three times. That’s just counting the times where the gun(s) were actually aimed at me.
