His Excellency Said Tayeb Jawad …

… was called into a meeting with President-Elect Obama and therefore could not make it to the lecture today. He sent his second-in-command, but it the presentation was basically just a few PowerPoint slides. Still interesting, but judge for yourselves. Video here.

My group for CS 405 is presenting our business plan in class this afternoon. While I would argue that we aren’t completely ready to present, we are totally ready to finally have this project behind us.

The Israeli Consul General is still on the agenda for tomorrow, so hopefully Obama doesn’t need to meet with him as well. But it is nice to know that Obama is already making some important connections (and that BYU invites some really important lecture guests to campus.)

Update: Added a link to the video from the lecture today. Our presentation went swimmingly, and I credit that mostly to my great team members, who did a great job helping to get everything ready. Afterwards, the professor commented that he thought I’d done the best job presenting out of anyone in the class, which reminded me of Randy Pausch’s comparison:

“…being considered the best speaker in the computer science department is like being known as the tallest of the Seven Dwarfs.”
