Long weekend

Well, first off, it was great to have a day off, especially a Monday. I’m really just not a Monday person. [Office Space quote here] I didn’t have to run too many errands this time, so I was finally able to unpack all of my stuff, do some laundry, and try and achieve some sense of order. Let’s be realistic though – did you honestly think I keep my apartment sparkling clean? I can’t even get my roommates to remove their moldy leftovers from the fridge, let alone lift a mop or vacuum. (Which I ended up having to do last night after getting sick of staring at the stains on the kitchen tile.) One thing I did notice after doing laundry was that it takes a lot longer for my space heater to warm up the room. Guess there was a purpose to that mountain of clothing. Saves energy.

I was able to attend my cousin Tanner’s farewell on Sunday. (He spoke in church before entering the MTC on Wednesday.) He did a fantastic job and has done a great deal to prepare himself for coming two years. For those of you who would like to read what he spoke on, you can find the transcript on his blog.

When I woke up Monday morning, I thought to myself, “If I only have two days off this entire semester, why on earth would I want to spend one of them in my cubicle in the second floor of the library?” Then I went back to sleep. Definitely worth it. When I finally did get up two hours later and saw the snow, I was glad I’d chosen to sleep in. I did some more cleaning around the apartment, picked up some Sonic for dinner (anything I can do to support the Oklahoma economy), and settled down on the couch to watch a terrific episode of Prison Break and then an episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. A great way to end a great 3-day weekend.
