Goodbye, Al

I left work early on Friday to make a trip up to IKEA in Draper – I figured the store couldn’t be too crowded on a Friday afternoon/evening. Fortunately, I was correct in my assumption. The parking lot was nowhere close to full, and I was able to walk around the showrooms without having to don riot gear. While the catalog is always more efficient, I was able to find shelves for my bedroom, a small chest of drawers for my desk, a roman blind, and a medicine cabinet for the ground floor bathroom. Needless to say, the remainder of Friday and most of Saturday was spent assembling those items.

Saturday’s football games were pretty amazing, with OU smearing Utah State, Tulsa beating BYU, and Utah kicking the crap out of UCLA. The whole Utah/UCLA thing makes BYU’s team look pretty pathetic, but hopefully, we’ll have better luck at our homecoming game on Saturday.

I’m not sure if it was because I stayed up until 4:00am on Saturday assembling shelves or just fate, but I managed to develop a nasty head cold by noon that same day. By evening, I was so out of it, between the cold medicine and the cold itself, that I really couldn’t do much more than just vegetate, so I ended up just watching a movie.

Ward prayer last night was somewhat of a disappointment – once again, no food! Seriously, do they think we go there just to stand around in the dark? Refreshments, people, refreshments.

Today happens to be my 23rd birthday. If all goes as planned, I’ll most likely celebrate it by doing homework. Yea! Honestly, though, I went up to Orem last night where I had a fantastic birthday dinner with my cousins, one of whom also has his birthday this week.
